Wise men speak because they have something to say; fools speak because they have to say something.

today, one of my favorite bloggers responded to me, personally. i’m such a dork for feeling so starstruck by a stranger

No one get’s lynched for exfoliating is the greatest come back I’ve ever witnessed.

How I feel about PTA appreciation night.

I don’t understand how people volunteer for things and then expect some type of reward or gift or celebration. It’s like a damn PTA appreciation night up in here. I don’t see the need or reason for war. Like I just don’t comprehend. I really want to be grateful and not like spew all over the men and women sacrificing their time and lives for the US, but I have a tremendously hard time understanding the love and praise for military sometimes.

Sometimes they do great things and acts of courage and such, but otherwise isn’t the whole goal of the military ultimately to possess power over another country? And to then exercise that man power in the format of a war? In essence killing the “enemy” or whomever is deemed “terrorist” of the US?

Honestly just word vomiting all over here today, so I apologize if I offend anyone. But really, I can’t be the only one who thinks like this right? Speak up people!!!

I’m a little reddish looking, but my freckles are out!! I know that I’ve neglected this blog since I started up my travel blog….so here’s a Sarah Life update!!!

So. Since I got home from school, I’ve been loving the easy, carefree summer livin’

Not having to work this summer has been a blessing…but what’s more of a blessing is that I’m leaving for Europe for the next two months in a matter of days! Five, to be exact :)

I’m studying abroad with MSU in Dublin, Ireland and after my program ends, one of my friends is flying out to meet me (how awesome is she?!?!?!) and we are traveling around with our huge hiking packs to Barcelona, Spain & Rome, Italy & Athens, Greece & Paris, France. While  I’m in Ireland I have a few free weekends…one of which will be spent on a side trip to Galway to see Mumford and Sons perform in a Western Ireland music festival! Another weekend I’m jetting off to London for 2 nights. I’m ecstatic about this trip and it’s all I think about everyday. I have already completely packed my bag and set everything out and even made the little trip to the store for incidentals.

When I get back from Europe in the end of July, I’ll only have a few weeks until I move into MSU on August 13! SO, the fam and I will be heading to our favorite campground (PJ Hoffmaster State Park on Lake MI) for a week to camp (IN TENTS, NOT IN A CAMPER YA WEENIE!!!). Camping for me means: campfires, coolers, sand, waves, ice cream, family, hiking, lighthouses, veggie dogs over the fire, tans, sandals, card games, morning dew in a tent, rivers, biking, sun, and sister time. I’m so thankful that I was raised camping each summer multiple times….with TENTS and not cheating with campers/cabins (those are cool too, I guess….buuut you’ve gotta admit that tents are way cooler :P ). I look forward to the hot summer days in Muskegon with my family!!

After camping, my family and I will be heading to New York City! The reason we’re going is because my sister (who’s graduating from high school in 6 days!!) never really got a “senior trip” because of her role in the musical which rehearsed over her spring break. SO, being the fashionista and musical-loving gal that she is, she asked for a FAMILY (awwww, how presh!!) trip to NYC!! She made us an itinerary and everything! We’ll be seeing Mama Mia (I think, hehe), picnicking in Central Park, going to the Statue of Liberty, dining in the top of the Empire State building, going to China Town, MOMA, and a bunch more little things I  cannot remember. I, however, announced that despite it being Emily’s senior trip, that I plan on obtaining seats to SNL….which means camping outside of the NBC building in a line so I get tickets at 7am when they’re handed out…..I will profess my love to Andy Samberg if it is the last thing I do as security guards carry me away…

Anyways. As far as the ‘health stuff’ goes, summer so far has been a mixture of being super active and super lazy. For example, one day I went on a 3 hour kayak excursion and burned somewhere around 950 calories (and got an awesome tan, I might add). But then another day, I sleep in until 10 or 11am, and take my dog on a little walk later (burning maybe 100-150 calories). Some days I haven’t even done anything worth noting as “working out”. But my weight hasn’t gone up! Granted, it’s only gone down about 2lb in the 3 weeks I’ve been home…yet, a loss is a loss! And I’m thankful for it regardless.

I’ve been loving cooking for myself and hangin out with my mom, helping with yardwork, and sleeping in my own bed!

I’ll keep y’all posted. I promise :)
